Description James S. Doherty held the property known as Red Castle in fee at the time of Griffiths Valuation in the 1850s, when it was valued at £40. In 1837 Lewis referred to Red Castle as the residence of Atkinson Wray. Buildings at the site are labelled Red Castle on all editions of the Ordnance Survey map. By 1906 it was the property of E. Cochrane. The building complex in Redcastle Demesne, was divided between the townlands of Carrickmaquigley and Tullynavinn and valued at £48. The Red Castle Hotel is now located at this site.
