Wray (Donegal)

At the time of Griffiths Valuation in the 1850s, William Wray was among the principal lessors in the parish of Aghanunshin, Barony of Kilmacrenan, County Donegal. In the 1870s, William Wray of Oak Park, Letterkeny, was recorded as the proprietor of over 2000 acres in County Donegal. At the same time, George Wray, resident at Ardnamona, Lough Eske, was the owner of over 600 acres. Local sources suggest the Wrays originally came to Ireland from Richmond in Yorkshire.
