Dogherty (Redcastle)

James S. Dogherty was among the principal lessors in the parishes of Moville Upper, barony of Inishowen East and Clonleigh, barony of Raphoe North, County Donegal, at the time of Griffith’s Valuation in the 1850s. Richard Doherty, formerly a professor in Queen’s College, Galway, was recorded as the owner of almost 7000 acres in County Donegal in the 1870s.
