Hastings (Huntingdon, Earl of)

In the 1870s, the Hastings family, Earls of Huntingdon, held over 6000 acres in county Waterford as well as over 3,600 acres in county Galway including lands in the parish of Killeenadeema, barony of Loughrea. They also held lands in Kings County [Offaly]. The Waterford estates had been acquired in 1838, through the marriage of Francis Hastings, 12th Earl, to Elizabeth Anne, daughter and heiress of Richard Power of Clashmore. They included lands in the parishes of Clashmore, barony of Decies-within-Drum and Seskinan, barony of Decies-without-Drum.
