Dancer
Sir Thomas Dancer, an alderman and Mayor of Waterford city, was created a baronet in 1662. In 1668 he was granted 1,180 acres in the barony of Lower Ormond, county Tipperary. His grandson, also named Thomas, was High Sheriff of county Tipperary in 1741 but died without male heirs. He was succeeded by his grand nephew Sir Amyrald Dancer who, in 1804, married one of the three co heiresses of Philip Going of Monaquil. In the mid 19th century their son, Sir Thomas Dancer, 6th Baronet, held land mainly in the barony of Ormond parishes of Modreeny and Terryglass but also in the parishes of Upperchurch, barony of Kilnamanagh Upper and Templedowney, Upper Ormond. Sir Thomas Dancer of Queen's Square, Bath, owned 604 acres in county Tipperary in the 1870s.
