O'Donnell (Kilsheelan)
In the mid 19th century the representatives of Robert O'Donnell held land in the parishes of Kilsheelan, barony of Iffa and Offa East and Caher, barony of Iffa and Offa West, county Tipperary. John O'Donnell also held land in the parish of Derrygrath, barony of Iffa and Offa West. In August 1851 the estate at Minorstown, Ballynaraha and Husseystown, county Tipperary, of Pierce O'Donnell of Youghal, county Cork, James Kelly late of Ballyknockin & Richard O'Donnell of Poulakerry, county Tipperary, was first advertised for sale. In April 1854 Richard O'Donnell's estate (379 acres) at Poulakerry, Skeehane and part of Kilsheelan was also put up for sale. Ó Gráda writes that Michael O'Donnell was born at Lower Seskin, Kilsheelan, in 1851. He married a daughter of John Shea of Bannixtown and acquired that property. Various members of the O'Donnell family owned estates of less than 400 acres in the Caher, Clonmel, Carrick area of south Tipperary in the 1870s.
