Peard
Turtle Bunbury writes that Henry Peard of Coole married Mary Gumbleton of Curraglass, county Cork, in 1766 and had a large family. At the time of Griffith's Valuation his grandson, Henry Hawke Peard, held land in the parishes of Dunmahon and Glanworth, barony of Fermoy, and Coole, Knockmourne and Mogeely, barony of Kinnatalloon, county Cork, while other family members held land in the parishes of Castlelyons and Knockmourne. Part of the estate of Marion Peard, at Glanatore, barony of Kinataloon, was offered for sale in the Encumbered Estates Court in November 1855 and in June 1859 the 500 acre estate of Richard William Peard at Kilmagner, barony of Condons and Clangibbon was advertised for sale.. Over 250 acres, the property of Henry Peard, was sold in the Landed Estates Court in November 1867. The purchasers were Messers. Carroll and Rice. The Hanan interest in Sun Lodge and other lands in the barony of Kinnatalloon were advertised for sale in June 1870. In the 1870s the representatives of John Peard, Bridevilla, Rathcormack, and Richard McCullagh Peard of Coole Abbey, owned 541 acres and 471 acres respectively in the county. http://www.turtlebunbury.com/history/history_family/hist_family_smyth.htm
