Cooper (Cooperhill)

Samuel Cooper of Cooper Hill, parish of Kilkeedy, county Limerick, died in 1779 aged 62 years, according to a plaque on the outside of the ruined church of Kilkeedy. James Cooper Tuthill inherited the estate of Cooperhill, parish of Kilkeedy, barony of Pubblebrien, county Limerick, from Mrs Honora Cooper. He assumed the name Cooper in 1844 by Royal Patent. By his first wife Mary Pickering he had 15 children. In the 1870s he owned over a thousand acres in the county.
