The Bateman family were lessors in the parish of Killinny, barony of Corkaguiny and Ballincuslane, Brosna, Kilgarrylander and Ratass, barony of Trughanacmy, at the time of Griffith’s Valuation. Rowland Bateman was the lessor of several townlands in the parish of Duagh, barony of Clanmaurice at the same time. Thomas Bateman was also the proprietor of over 500 acres in county Galway, mainly in the civil parish of Oranmore. In 1859, over 1700 acres of the Bateman estate was offered for sale in the Landed Estates Court. Almost 4500 acres of John Bateman's estate was offered for sale in the Landed Estates Court in June 1860. This included lands in the baronies of Trughanacmy and Corkaguiny and house property in Tralee town. In the 1870s, the estate of John Bateman amounted to over 2400 acres in county Kerry while that of Rowland Bateman of Tralee was over 1200 acres in Kerry and a similar amount in county Limerick.
