Davis (Martinstown)
James Davis, eldest son of George Davys FitzRichard (1703-1767), married Frances, daughter of George Taaffe of Strokestown and settled at Martinstown in the latter half of the 18th century. Their son George lived at Martinstown and later at Lissadorn. Their daughter Mary married Patrick Browne of Cloonfad. The Ordnance Survey Field Name Books record Ballymartinmore as the seat of Mr Davis. A substantial house and demesne are marked on the first Ordnance Survey map.
