Ellis (Ballymoe)
Robert H. Elllis held land in the parish of Cloonygormican, barony of Ballymoe, county Roscommon at the time of Griffith's Valuation. In the 1870s George Ellis, medical doctor, of 91 Lower Leeson Street, Dublin, owned 584 acres in county Roscommon and 627 acres in county Leitrim and over a hundred acres in county Tyrone. George Ellis, who address is given as Shrule, county Mayo, is listed as the owner of almost 400 acres in county Galway. Negotiations for the sale of the Ellis estate to the Congested Districts' Board were progressing in 1916.
