O'Reilly (Heath House)

Family papers, including a history of Myles John O'Reilly's estates in counties Sligo and Roscommon and a rental, were presented to Trinity College, Dublin, in 1954 by Colonel Beresford Mundey, a grandson of Myles George O'Reilly 'The O'Reilly'. The O'Reillys resided at Heath House, county Laois from the 18th century and intermarried with the Knox family of Moyne, county Mayo and with the Beresford family, Lord Decies. Lands in counties Roscommon and Sligo belonging to "The O'Reilly"'s estate were offered for sale in the Landed Estates Court in November 1873. The sale notice indicates that some of the lands in Sligo were held under a 1680 lease from Nicholas, Earl of Carlingford. In the 1830s the O'Donnell family of Greyfield were agents for the O'Reillys in the Boyle area.
