Edward Matthews occupied Shannon Hill House at Derryvunlum, barony of Leitrim, at the time of Griffith's Valuation when it was valued at £18. In 1906 the house at Derryvunlam, known as Shannon Hill, was still valued at £18 and still in the hands of Edward Matthews. There is still an extant house at the site.
