In 1840 the Ordnance Survey Name Books refer to another house in this townland, occupied by James Southcote Mansergh and known as Newtown Cottage [R906377]. At the time of Griffith's Valuation, a property in this townland owned by Southcote Mansergh and valued at £40 was in use as an auxiliary workhouse. |
