Description At the time of Griffith's Valuation Thomas Jones was leasing a property valued at £18 at Rathlee, barony of Tireragh, to John Christie. The ''Sligo Directory'' of 1862 indicates that John Christie was a magistrate for the county. McTernan states that this property was associated with the Hewitt family who were connected with the Fitzgerald family through marriage. The Fitzgeralds had acquired an interest in the property at the beginning of the nineteenth century. In 1814 Leet recorded the house at Rathlee as the residence of Michael Fitzgerald. Rathlee is no longer extant but the remains of the walled garden are still visible.
