| Description | E.J. Cooper was a well-known astronomer and observer of weather patterns. He had this observatory built at Markree c. 1850. It was valued at £40 at the time of Griffith's Valuation. Though now derelict it contains some original features. The archival collection of weather observations taken at Markree is now held by the library of Met Eireann, the Irish meteorological service. |
