A Scottish family from Angus, John Doig was a doctor in the British Army medical service. He served in India where a number of his children were born.

Name	Description
Doig	In March 1854 John Doig bought part of the estate of Christopher St George in the parishes of Kilcummin and Rahoon, barony of Moycullen, county Galway in the Encumbered Estates Court. He died in Oughterard in 1871 and his children Helen, John and Scrope inherited 1448 acres in the locality. His son, Scrope Doig, was living in retirement at Oughterard in the early part of the 20th century. http://www.doig.net/DAVE1620.htm
Cottingham	At the time of Griffith's Valuation George Cottingham and Anne Regan and Mrs William Regan held the townlands of Rusheeny in the parish of Kilcummin and Derrynea in the parish of Killannin, barony of Moycullen, county Galway, with the attached salmon fishery. In 1814 a George Cottingham was residing at Sally Hill in the Oughterard area of county Galway. In the 1870s George Cottingham of Annakeelaun, parish of Kilcummin, owned 1,140 acres in county Galway.
