Harte (Coolrus)

William Johnson Harte was residing at Coolrus, county Limerick in the early 19th century. The Trinity College Alumni records two of his sons, Richard, born circa 1801 and Mahony, born 1806. The Ordnance Survey Name Book records Richard Hart of Coolrus, parish of Ballingarry, county Limerick, holding the 1,030 acre townland of Coolrus and the smaller townland of Durlas containing 172 acres. Coolrus, the estate of Richard Harte was advertised for sale in July 1865. The sale, which was adjourned due to insufficient bidding, was subject to an annuity of £400 "for the life of a lady aged 49 years"! . Lands at Gurteen, barony of Connello Upper belonging to William Henry Harte were advertised for sale in May 1852. This property was sold to William Littledale for £3000.
Additional lands at Carhuemore and Ballycullen were advertised for sale in January 1855. The 158 acres estate of Mahony and William Harte at Ballinacurra Wilson, barony of Pubblebrien, was advertised for sale in April 1856 and the lands of Ballinacurra Bowman in January 1860. In the 1870s Mrs Anne Harte of Cork owned 1,098 acres in county Limerick.

Harte (Magunihy)

Mahony Harte was one of the principal lessors in the parish of Kilnanare, barony of Magunihy, at the time of Griffith's Valuation. His representatives owned almost 1700 acres in county Kerry in the 1870s. James Mahony Harte, born 1806, was the second son of William Johnson Harte of Coolrus, county Limerick and his wife Marion Mahony. He was educated at Trinity College Dublin and the King's Inns. Lands in the barony of Pubblebrien, county Limerick, belonging to him and other family members were advertised for sale in the 1850s and 1860s.

Mason (Cooleen & Cappanihane)

At the time of the first Ordnance Survey Richard Mason held the townland of Cappanihane (772 acres), parish of Corcomohide, barony of Connello Upper, county Limerick. John Mason was the immediate lessor of the townland at the time of Griffith's Valuation. The 994 acre estate of John Mason, Walker Jackson Mason and Myles Jackson Mason in the barony of Connello Upper, including the houses Lisduane and Glenbrooke, was advertised for sale in January and June 1854. The rental included lithographs of both houses. Walker Jackson Mason fourth son of Richard Mason of Cappanihane died in 1882 and Mary Mason of Glenbrooke, widow of Miles Jackson Mason and fourth daughter of John Sullivan of Tullylease, county Cork, died in 1880. In the mid 19th century William Hart(e) Mason held a small estate closeby at Cooleen, parish of Bruree, barony of Coshma. In the 1870s he is recorded as owning 190 acres in the county. In 1854 he married Alice Bevan of the Camass family. In 1882 Joseph Mason died in Australia, he was a son of Joseph Mason of Cooleen and a grandson of Sir Richard Harte of Coolrus, county Limerick.
