Smith (Violetstown and Annefield)
Abraham Smith is recorded as living at Rathduff, County Westmeath, in 1666. John Smith of Vilanstown or Violetstown married Dorcas Wheatley and had three sons Joshua, John and Isaac. He died in 1733. His second son John of Violetstown married Anne daughter of Benjamin Pratt of Agher, county Meath and they had three sons, the eldest of whom John married Louisa Bermingham and inherited Anneville from his uncle Isaac. John and Louisa had four sons, the youngest of whom was Francis Pratt Smith who married Louisa Macnamara in 1806.
