Clibborn (Moate)

The Clibborns were descended from a soldier in Cromwell’s army who settled at Moate, county Westmeath. Their estate was located in the parishes of Kilmanaghan, Kilcleagh and Ballyloughloe. In the 1870s it amounted to 1,883 acres. The head of the family, Thomas Strettel Clibborn, immigrated to Australia in the early 1870s.
