Lynch (Roebuck)

Edward Lynch of Roebuck, parish of Kilbride, county Cavan, was one of the electors of the county in 1824. By the time of Griffith’s Valuation his son, Joseph Lynch of Roebuck, held land in the parish of Kilbride from W. O’Reilly Adams and the Earl of Westmeath. He also held land in the parishes of Drung and Castlerahan. The Court Journal of 1833 records the marriage of Joseph Lynch and Kate Somers of Dublin. Kate died in 1837. Joseph married secondly Belinda Jane Breen of Dublin. Griffith's Valuation records him as the principal lessor of Barconny, 138 acres in the parish of Castlerahan, which was for sale in the Encumbered Estates Court in 1852. Joseph died in 1858. In 1876, Mrs Joseph Lynch of Roebuck, Mount Nugent, owned 326 acres and John B. Lynch of Roebuck owned 138 acres in the county. Joseph and Belinda Lynch’s sixth son, Michael Palles Lynch of Dungimon, county Cavan and Coola, county Westmeath, is recorded in Walford’s County Families, 1910.
