Nugent (Mountprospect)
The history of this family is recorded in Brian Nugent’s book. They were resident in county Cavan from the mid-17th century. Dominic Nugent of Mountprospect, parish of Castlerahan, county Cavan, had a son Thomas who was almost a hundred years old when he died in 1840. His estate passed to the Dempsey family. Richard Dempsey occupied the house at the time of Griffith’s Valuation and died in 1877.
