Johnston (Raphoe South and Magheramenagh)
In the 1870s Hussey de Burgh recorded James Johnston of Summerhill, Stranorlar, as the owner of over 1100 acres in county Donegal. At the time of Griffiths Valuation in the 1850s he was the principal landowner in the parishes of Conwal, Donaghmore and Kilteevoge, barony of Raphoe South. In 1878 Robert Edgeworth Johnston of Magheramenagh Castle, County Fermanagh offered for sale the rental of over 500 acres in the barony of Raphoe, County Donegal as well as lands in the barony of Magheraboy, County Fermanagh.
