Maxwell (Raphoe North)
In the 1870s Reverend Robert Walter Maxwell, of Birdstown, owned over 4000 acres in County Donegal as well as over 3500 in County Derry and over 1200 in County Tyrone. Other representatives of his father, Peter Benson Maxwell, were recorded as the owners of over 700 acres in County Donegal. At the time of Griffiths Valuation, Peter B. Maxwell was among the principal lessors in the parishes of Burt and Fahan Upper, barony of Inishowen West and Clonleigh, barony of Raphoe North, County Donegal.
