Batt

Thomas and Sarah Batt was among the lessors of property in the civil parish of Killygarvan, barony of Kilmacrenan, County Donegal at the time of Griffiths Valuation in the 1850s. This family's main seat was at Purdysburn, County Down. Robert Batt was the owner of over 12,000 acres in that county in the 1870s. Thomas "Battersby"of Rathmullan, County Donegal, is recorded by Hussey de Burgh as the owner of over 4000 acres in County Donegal at the same. time. Burke states that this family derive from Samuel Batt, of Osier Hill, County Wexford whose will was proven in 1716.
