Fawcett (KIlbarron)
Members of the Fawcett family were among the property owners in the parishes of Kilbarron and Drumhome, barony of Tirhugh, County Donegal, at the time of Griffith’s Valuation. Robert [Faussett] was a lessor in the parish of Conwal, barony of Kilmacrenan at the same time. In April 1870 members of the Fawcett family offered over 130 acres in the barony of Tirhugh for sale in the Landed Estates Court. In the 1870s, Robert [Faussett], County Inspector, RIC, County Armagh, was the proprietor of over 3000 acres in County Donegal. Robert Fawcett of Downpatrick, County Down, owned over 1200 acres in Donegal at the same time. Beattie notes that the Congested Districts Board began to acquire parts of the Fawcett estate from 1903 onwards.
