Johnston (Drumhome)
The estate of Charles and James Johnston was among the principal proprietors in the parish of Drumhome, Barony of Tirhugh at the time of Griffith’s Valuation in the 1850s. The representatives of Charles Johnston of Tullybrook, Laghy, owned over 2300 acres in County Donegal in the 1870s. Local sources suggest the Johnstons purchased this estate from the Wyatt family in the mid-nineteenth century and it remained in the family until the 1940s.
