Fitzgerald (Ardcloony)
''The Connaught Journal'' of 20 February 1840 records the purchase in the Court of Chancery of Ardcloony, O'Brien's Bridge, county Clare, by Francis Connell Fitzgerald, for £4,500. Francis Connell Fitzgerald was involved in the Tontine Company of Limerick. John Connell Fitzgerald married Margaret Apjohn and this couple were living in Abington House in the 1860s when their two daughters Mary and Frances were born in 1864 and 1866 (records of parish of Murroe). In December 1886 the estate of Edmund Fitzgerald, deceased, and his heir-at-law, John Connell Fitzgerald, was offered for sale in the Land Judges' Court. The court agreed to adjourn the sale to allow the solicitors for the tenants to submit private bids.
