Whiteway
In the 1870s Christopher Vallance Whiteway of Kinsale, county Cork, owned 1,117 acres in that county. He was a relative of Sir William Vallance Whiteway (born 1828), a prominent politican and premier of Newfoundland, Canada in the second half of the 19th century. Sir William was the youngest son of Thomas Whiteway of Buckyet, Devon and his wife Elizabeth Vallance. (Dictionary of Canadian Biography, Vol XIII).
