Miles (Tipperary)

George Miles of Summerhill, Clonmel, county Tipperary, married Margaret Wright and had a son, Reverend George Miles and a daughter, Rebecca. Reverend George married a daughter of Garret Neville of Annamult, county Kilkenny and had five daughters. He may have married twice as another source states that he married Jane Poer of Belleville, county Waterford. By the 1830s the Miles were leasing Summerhill to the Moores. Another family named Miles held land at Rochestown and Ballylaffin, barony of Iffa and Offa West in the early 19th century. It is not clear if they were related to the Miles family of Clonmel. In the 1870s the Reverend Usher Miles of Warrington, England, owned 582 acres in county Tipperary.
