Atkinson (Ashley Park)
The Atkinsons of Ashley Park and South Park, county Tipperary, were a junior branch of the Atkinsons of Cangort, county Offaly. Anthony Atkinson of South Park married Catharine, daughter of Dominick Blake of Castlegrove, county Galway and his wife, Frances Netterville. They had three sons James, Charles of South Park and George Guy of Ashley Park. In the mid 19th century George Atkinson held land in the parishes of Ardcrony, Cloghprior and Knigh, barony of Lower Ormond and Charles Atkinson held land in the parish of Ballingarry. In the 1870s James N. Atkinson of Ashley Park owned 2,108 acres in county Tipperary and 961 acres in county Galway.
