Sadleir (Sadleirswells)
The Sadleirswells branch of this county Tipperary family descend from Nicholas Sadleir of Golden Garden and Lachen, county Tipperary. His son Richard bought Kingswell and married Eleanor Toler. Their youngest son, Richard of Sadleirswells, married Frances Matilda Massy, daughter of the Honourable Eyre Massy and they had ten sons. Richard Sadleir held an estate in the parishes of Rathlynin, Templebredon and Tipperary, barony of Clanwilliam, county Tipperary, in the mid 19th century. In January 1854 the estates of his eldest son, Richard William Ralph Sadleir, in counties Tipperary, Kilkenny and Limerick, amounting to a total of 1,720 acres, were advertised for sale. The sale included Sadleir's-wells. See also Fitzmaurice v. Sadlier in ''Irish Equity Reports'' Vol. 12 (1850), p. 544
