Long (Longfield)
The Longs settled at Graystown, county Tipperary, in the late 17th century. Edward Long of Ardfinnan and Cahir Abbey, county Tipperary had a son Colonel Richard Hutchinson Long (1740-1814) of Longfield House. In 1790 he married Charity Moore of Barne, county Tipperary. Their younger son Edward Thomas Long of Fort Edward eventually inherited Longfield which he sold in the mid 1840s to Charles Bianconi. Edward emigrated to the Wisconsin, USA, where many of his descendants now live. One of them Count Caragata has done extensive research on the family history.
