Litchfield

An estate of 429 acres belonging to John Litchfield and located at Cloyne, barony of Imokilly and in the barony of West Carbery, county Cork, was advertised for sale in April 1870. The estate of Sarah Litchfield, widow of John Litchfield, in the barony of Imokilly, was advertised for sale in November 1882. It was advertised again in May 1883 but the sale was adjourned due to lack of bidding. This property at Ballymallowmore [Ballymaloe] and Parkylissig was originally leased to Abraham Forster by Richard Longfield in May 1790. The lease was renewed in 1841 to Abraham Thomas Forster. Soon after Forster's interest became vested in John Litchfield, who is recorded as occupying Ballymaloe in the early 1850s. In the 1870s John Litchfield of Ballymaloe owned 417 acres in county Cork.
