Barry (Dundullerick)

In the mid 17th century Thomas Barry of Dundullerick, county Cork married an O'Cahill of nearby Ballyvodock Castle and from them descend the Barrys of Dundullerick, Rockville and Greenville, as detailed in ''Burke's Irish Family Records''. Members of this family such as Garret Barry and William Barry held a number of townlands in the parish of Carrigtohill at the time of Griffith's Valuation. Members of the Barry family of Greenville owned about 380 acres in the 1870s, while David Barry of Cork owned 517 acres, Richard Barry of Barry's Lodge owned 963 acres and Pierce Barry of Dundullerick owned 868 acres.
