Rogers (Lota)

Rosemary ffolliott writes that Francis Rogers, a merchant of Cork city, had two sons, Robert of Lota, near Glanmire and George of Ashgrove, Great Island. In 1673 Robert married Elizabeth, daughter of Noblett Dunscombe of Mount Desart. They had a number of sons and Robert was succeeded by Noblett Rogers, an alderman of Youghal. Noblett's grandson Michael Rogers married Elizabeth Kissane of county Tipperaryin 1800 . In October 1857 the estate of William Kissane Rogers at Lotamore, Lotabeg and Poulicurrihy, barony of Cork and a fee farm rent payable on the lands of Knocknagown, barony of Muskerry, were advertised for sale. Lotamore and Lotabeg were held on leases dated 1694 and 1720 from John and William Galway to Robert and George Rogers. Lithographs of Lota Park, Lota House and Lota Lodge are included in the sale rental.
