Minnitt (Annaghbeg, Co Tipperary)
The Minnitts were established at Mount Minnitt, county Limerick at the end of the 17th century but moved to Annaghbeg in county Tipperary in the early 18th century. Daniel Grace gives a detailed history of this family in his book on the parishes of Monsea and Killodiernan. At the time of Griffith's Valuation Joshua Minnett held land in the parishes of Dromineer, Killodiernan, Knigh and Monsea, barony of Lower Ormond, county Tipperary, while Mary Toler Minnett and William Minnett held land in the parishes of Killodiernan and Cloghprior respectively. The Ordnance Survey Name Books contain a detailed account of archaelogical artefacts unearthed by William Minnet at Blackfort prior to 1840. Pierce Moore held the townland of Killard from the Minnitts at this time. In the 1870s Joshua R. Minnett of Annaghbeg owned 1,063 acres in county Tipperary.
