Cashel/Cashin (Tipperary)

The Cashels were located in the Birdhill locality of county Tipperary from the 1770s. Henry Cashel of Bushfield married Rebecca White. George Henry Cashin [Cashel] held land in the parishes of Killoscully and Kilmastulla, barony of Owney and Arra, county Tipperary, at the time of Griffith's Valuation. In October 1850 the lands of Bushfield, the estate of Henry George Cashel, were advertised for sale. George Cashel, of Shallee, Silvermines, county Tipperary, was leasing over 250 acres from the Gun estate in the parish of Rattoo, county Kerry at the time of Griffith's Valuation. In 1868 he offered for sale in the Landed Estates Court, property in the baronies of Iraghticonnor and Clanmaurice, county Kerry, as well as over 400 acres in the barony of Owney and Arra, county Tipperary at Castlecranna and Shallee (White). George Cashel of Shallee owned 400 acres in county Tipperary in the 1870s. The name of this family is spelt Cashin in Griffith's Valuation.
