Turbett/Turbott
The townland of Kilmacshane (Turbett) contains 2,167 acres in the parish of Clonfert, barony of Longford, county Galway, and at least part of it was held by James Turbett at the time of Griffith's Valuation. The representatives of James Turbett of Oaklawn, county Tipperary were recorded as the owners of over 1600 acres in county Galway in the 1870s. An offer was accepted from the Congested Districts Board for the purchase of over 500 acres of the estate sometime after 1903.
