O'Grady (Tavraun)

An estate mainly located in the parish of Aghamore, barony of Costello, county Mayo but also containing lands in the parishes of Annagh, Bekan, Knock, Kilbeagh and Kilmovee in the same barony and across the county border in the parish of Addergoole, barony of Dunmore, county Galway and in the parish of Tibohine, barony of Frenchpark, county Roscommon. Francis Richard O'Grady had purchased much of his estate in the Encumbered Estates' Court. Lane contends that he also acted as agent for Wiliam Corrie, an English investor who bought some land in the same court. In 1878 George Francis O'Grady of Tavrane, held 1342 acres in county Mayo, 654 acres in county Galway and 1099 acres in county Roscommon. His estates were advertised for sale in 1879.
