At the time of Griffith's Valuation, Timothy Egan was leasing a property valued at £7 from the Clanricarde estate. On the 25-inch map of the 1890s the house in this townland is labelled Woodfield. It is still extant and occupied. The first edition Ordnance Survey map notes an old brewery nearby.
