Description The seat of the Roberts family in the 18th and 19th centuries. A small lithograph of the house is included in the sale rental of 1851. It was being leased by Sir Thomas Roberts to Michael Roberts at the time of Griffith's Valuation, when it was valued at £40. A second Roberts property in the same townland, valued at almost £8, was being leased to James D. Barry. Lewis refers to Britfieldstown as the seat of Sir T. Roberts in 1837. In 1854 Britfieldstown was purchased by Luke J. Shea in the Encumbered Estates Court. Bence Jones writes that it later became the home of the MacDonald family, sold by them in 1958 and derelict in the 1970s. It is no longer extant though several other estate buildings survive.
