Description | Robert Irwin was leasing a property valued at £5 + 230 acres at Emlagh, barony of Castlerea, to Patrick Flynn, at the time of Griffith's Valuation. The Census of Elphin indicates that John Irwin resided there in 1749. Gormley states that the house was probably built around 1740 and extended in the early 1800s. By the 1880s the Irwins had sold Emlagh to Walter McDermott. The house was later demolished. |
