Percy

The estate at Garadice was offered for sale in the Landed Estates Court in May 1865 on behalf of five daughters of the Percy family. Lands belonging to the Percy estate were again offered for sale in the Landed Estates Court in July and December 1865. Over 300 acres was sold in December 1865, mostly purchased in trust by Messers. Clay and Kiernan. Percy lands in county Leitrim in the 1870s amounted to almost 200 acres and was owned by Martha Percy with an address in Warwick, England. The family had formerly been of considerable standing in the county with members serving as High Sheriff in the eighteenth century. In 1802 McParlan recorded Mr. Percy of Garradise as a resident gentleman of property in county Leitrim. Garadice may earlier have been the seat of a Parsons estate.
