Ramage (Craddanstown)
|
The Ramage family lived at Craddanstown, parish of Killucan, county Westmeath, from at least the early 19th century. They held an estate of about 150 acres from the Earls of Longford. The size of the estate is taken from a reference to an old rent book still in the house in 2017 when the property was for sale (https://www.independent.ie/life/home-garden/peek-inside-this-wonderful-and-completely-restored-495k-historic-home/36226392.html). On 8 January 1877 Lockhart Ramage of Craddanstown married Anne Mary daughter of George Roe MD of Ballyconnell, county Cavan. She died on 19 July 1909 and her gravestone records that she was the wife of Lockhart Ramage of 'Craddanstown Lodge'. No Ramage is recorded in the parliamentary paper listing owners of one acre or more in 1876.
