Clarke (Enniscoffey) At the time of Griffith’s Valuation (publ. 1854) George Rochfort Clarke was the immediate lessor of the townland of Bellfield or Brannockstown, 455 acres in the parish of Enniscoffey, county Westmeath. He still owned this property in the mid-1870s. He was the son of George Clarke of Hyde Hall, Chester and his wife Elizabeth Rochfort. He was a barrister and author. In 1830 he married Elizabeth Byron and died in England in 1889 (Daily News, London, 3 Oct 1889).
