Knox (Prehen) In the 1870s George Knox was the owner of over 3600 acres in County Donegal as well as over 800 acres in County Derry. At the time of Griffith’s Valuation, his Donegal property included townlands in the parish of Drumhome in the barony of Tirhugh. Burke traces the descent of this family from Reverend Andrew Knox, Bishop of Raphoe in 1620. Te Prehen property was acquired through the marriage, in 1738, of Andrew Knox of Rathmullan, MP for Donegal, who married Honoria Tomkins, heiress of Andrew Tomkins of Prehen.
