In the early 19th century Edward Groome of Killinane, county Carlow, held lands in the parishes of Bailieborough, Knockbride and Moybolgue, Co Cavan. They were to be sold under a Chancery decree in 1822. Edward Groome (1771-1817) of Killinane House, Carlow, married Sarah Smyth, daughter of Patrick Smyth of Bailieborough, county Cavan. Sarah appears to have been one of five co-heiresses of her father Patrick. Their eldest son Edward was born in 1800. The Reverend Edward Groome held one townland in the parish of Moybolgue, county Cavan at the time of Griffith's Valuation. In 1876, the Reverend Edward Groom and Miss Sarah Groom, both of Tichburn House, Drogheda, owned 261 acres between them in the county of Cavan.
