| Mackarness | In the 1870s the Reverend George R. Mackarness of Ashbourne, Derbyshire is recorded as the owner of 1,370 acres in county Cavan. In 1848, the Reverend George Richard Mackarness, Bishop of Argyll and The Isles (1874-1883), married Mary Anne daughter and co heiress of Cosby Young of Lahard, parish of Killashandra, county Cavan. They had one son and two daughters. In 1877, their son George Evelyn Mackarness married Marie S. Graham of Argyllshire (Cavan Weekly News, 7 Sep 1877). |
