Estate(s)

Name Description
Norman (Inishowen) At the time of Griffiths Valuation in the 1850s, Thomas and other members of the Norman family were among the principal lessors in the parish of Fahan Upper, barony of Inishowen West and Aughnish and Clondavaddoge, barony of Kilmacrenan, County Donegal. In the 1870s Thomas Norman was recorded as the owner of over 5000 acres in the county. Burke suggests that this family was descended from Samuel Norman, a mayor of the city of Londonderry in the 1670s. Some of the family were resident in Dublin in the eighteenth century. They also served as High Sheriffs of Donegal. The Fahan and Glengollen branches of the family were united in 1878 through the marriage of Thomas Norman of Glengollan and Annie Norman of Fahan.
